The Local Government Waste Storage Guide for Northern Ireland was launched by the Minister of the Environment on 15th September 2010.
The guide provides detailed step-by-step guidance to help ensure that homes and businesses are properly designed for waste storage and access.
The Guide aims to give guidance and advice to architects, developers and building contractors to ensure that arrangements for storing and accessing waste are properly considered when designing individual buildings and building developments.
Note:
While the guide provides detailed guidance and advice, it is not intended to be an alternative to discussion and consultation. It is important, therefore, to consult with the relevant council’s Building Control Service early in the design stage and regularly throughout the development process of each individual project.
The guide is designed to assist you in achieving compliance with relevant legislation. However, it is not a replacement for legislation, and compliance with the guide does not automatically guarantee compliance with all relevant legislation. The onus is on the architect, developer and property owner to be familiar with and act in accordance with prevailing legal requirements.
