The NWRWMG’s Waste Management Plan has been prepared to provide the required infrastructure to facilitate the development and implementation of sustainable waste management practices.
It has evolved over time, and offers the potential not only to reduce the environmental impacts associated with current waste management practices, but also to contribute to sustainable economic development.
Waste Management
The primary purpose of this Plan is to set out the arrangements for the management of the wastes arising within the NWRWMG, in fulfilment of the Councils’ statutory obligations under the EU Waste Framework Directive, and The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.
The plan sets in place basic building blocks to ensure that the waste management practices become more sustainable, whilst ensuring councils should meet their statutory obligations and targets.
